The artist uses uninhibited impasto oil painting knife strokes depicting nature’s wonders as it leaps off the canvas, alive with vivid color, thick texture and movement. Wildlife in nature is Kast’s most influential muse, an experience of a lifetime, is filled with the most exquisite Western American presents, immersing herself in the wilderness where bison, deer, elk and the occasional bear still roam.
While hiking the mountain ranges, she would draw insight and inspiration, a sense of connection to nature’s mystery, in the wonderful national parks and forests. This discovery played a central role in C. Kast’s creative process for her understanding of form, pattern and perception.
Cheryl has an adept realization of the principles of art, and it’s applications of color – including color contrast, color harmony, and color temperature – are careful and discerning. The joy that Kast pours into her work can be seen through her paintings, and each piece is truly one of a kind.
After receiving scholarships and honors in art, a horticulture degree from Purdue University, and an MBA from Indiana University, concentrating in the Arts, she has owned and operated her Estate Property Landscape Management company for over 25 years. Her respect and conservation to nature has now lead her to devote the rest of her life painting extraordinary wildlife in exciting colors.
